What is Feng Shui?
Feng Shui (pronouced "Fung Shway") literally means Wind and Water in Chinese and is the discipline of the placement and arrangement of buildings and space within the building in order to achieve harmony with the natural environment. Proper Feng Shui is a set of guidelines for the creation of beautiful architecture and comfortable interior space. Feng Shui attempts to balance Yin/Yang elements and the five natural elements—water, wood, fire, earth and metal—to maximize the positive energy or "chi" of a home or office. When a home is arranged to maximize the positive chi or qi, that is universal life force energy, occupants of the home feel happier, healthier and enjoy more harmonious relationships and prosperity.
How will Feng Shui Help me?
There are many different schools and styles of Feng Shui. A good consultant will have training in all facets and choose those that are best for your needs. For example, if you are selling your home it is best to arrange the home to maximize the beauty and energy in a way to appeal to the most potential buyers.
Builders can greatly benefit from Feng Shui consulting in the layout of subdivisions, home-facing directions, floor plans, and elements of design. Donald Trump reportedly does not start a real-estate project without conferring with his Feng Shui consultant.
Home Buyers will want to explore their own personal Feng Shui through analysis of their Four Pillars—a type of astrology—to find a home best suited to their own personal needs and energy.
A business owner will want the office or store to appeal to clients, enhance prosperity, and increase productivity of personnel.
Use Feng Shui to clear the energy of your home after a divorce or sad event. It is always advantageous to clear a new home before you move in to avoid absorbing negative energy from past owners and events.
